Saturday at The Grove – It was The 4th of July

It was Saturday in the Park and it was actually the 4th of July for the Thomas & Amie (Conway) Gebavi ceremony & reception outside at The Grove ( in Glenview. Relatives and friends witnessed their ceremony as well as actively participated in the celebration by dancing the night away to a variety of tunes. Appropriately The introduction song was “Saturday in the Park” by Chicago and by their choice we concluded the festivities with the same. The entire evening was filled with excitement on the dance floor whether to Oldies, fun Current Top 40, Disco or Romantic. In addition Thomas & Amie requested significant sets of Classic Rock, Country and Irish Jigs ( to be played which drew great dance action in the dance area of the pavilion. They even informed us of their favorite artists; Van Morrison, Queen, The Doors and Thin Lizzy which we played in abundance. Check out the dance videos and action photos with all the smiles. During both cocktail and dinner hours we put on 4th of July Tunes from our Patriotic Collection ( The Uplighting & Dancing Under The Stars helped made the Pavilion pop. Best wishes to Thomas & Amie and thanks for having us MC/DJ your wedding.

Yelp Review – Testimonial

IMG_1717Thanks to Brad & Jackie (Houriet) Gillaspie for this wonderful unsolicited Yelp Review, who had us at their reception on June 20, 2015, at The Lehmann Mansion.

“I wish I knew where to begin with this AMAZING DJ company… To say that I was impressed is an understatement. My husband and I chose to use them for our wedding because they came highly recommended by my dad, who knows Gary Templin personally. About 8 months out from our wedding we booked our date and Gary had us over to his home (which is where his office is, which was awesome because it felt so personal) and talked with us about what we wanted and what we didn’t want. He took EXTENSIVE notes, which impressed me, and then he showed us what each of the different packages he offered would include–lights and all right there in his office! Gary was extremely thorough, and that is something I appreciate in a wedding vendor.

All of the music planning is done online after the initial meeting with Gary, which is awesome. You can make a must play list, a maybe play list, and a do not play list, so if you HATE the chicken dance like me, you can make sure it’s not played! You can also add in games if you want! You also choose songs for your entrance and your garter and bouquet toss, and put literally all the information you could think of online, and Gary gets the forms. It was so cool!

The week of our wedding Gary called me to go over everything and I was once again impressed by his thoroughness. He had all of my info, went over every detail, asked questions (including how to pronounce each bridesmaid’s and groomsman’s names, and that was that! I felt so at peace and for once felt like someone had everything under control–probably for the first time in the entire wedding planning process!

The day of our wedding (June 20 of this year) was the next time I saw Gary and it was when we were being announced into our reception which went off like a hitch as did our first dances.

Dinner music was Bing Crosby/Frank Sinatra style which people told me they loved, and I was impressed by how well the music could be heard all over the reception space! The Windy City Hitman’s sound system truly is incredible. Throughout the night Gary would come check in with me to make sure I was happy, which I really appreciated.

Next came the dancing, and I was SO EXCITED to see what Gary could do. The company’s whole motto is that they can read and pack the dance floor, and keep it packed with all ages, and that is EXACTLY what they did. I was BLOWN away. The first song he played was “Shut Up and Dance” by Walk the Moon, and I expected it to just be the bridal party, but it felt like the whole room converged on the dance floor! And that lasted ALL NIGHT. The dance floor was jam packed, even our grandmas were out there dancing to songs like “Gold Digger” by Kanye West! I was totally impressed. One of my favorite moments was when Gary played “Chelsea Dagger” since the Hawks won the Cup this year, and the dance floor was so packed, EVERYONE was singing/screaming along, and it felt like Gary had just surrounded me with everyone I loved the whole time we danced.

I am truly impressed by the amazing job done by Gary of the Windy City Hitman, and I HIGHLY recommend them for weddings, or even a bar or bat mitzvah. I had people coming up to me saying that it was the BEST wedding reception they had ever been to, and they had never seen a dance floor so packed. Chicago/Wisconsin/Indiana weddings, PLEASE use The Windy City Hitman as your DJ, I promise you will not be disappointed!!!”

Surprise 90th Birthday Salute to Elmo

Hey a Surprise 90th Birthday Party! It was an honor to be the entertainment for Elmo Gonzalez’s Birthday celebration on June 27 in Arlington Heights in the backyard of his daughter’s home. Only four blocks from our office. Loved the location. It was great weather and turnout for the festivities. The surprise song was “La Bamba” by Richie Valens. Elmo was really surprised. I immediately then put on the Big Band/Swing Tunes ( from the 1940s’ when he was in the Navy in the Pacific. Elmo served on the Aircraft Carrier Bunker Hill and was at The Battle of Okinawa. He especially enjoyed The Navy Hymn “Anchors Aweigh” and gave a salute. I enjoyed playing summer themed songs, latin favorites and oldies. The line dances were especially popular for family and friends. “Just the Two of Us” by Grover Washington, Jr. was played as a special song for Elmo and his wife. “That’s What Friends are For” was played as it was one of Elmo’s theme songs while running as the two time Major of La Porte, Indiana. The kids just loved the Hula Hoop (, Twist ( and Limbo ( contests. Great food and fun for all ages. Holly thanks for contacting me. I had a blast. Check out all of the action photos and videos.

Jackie & Brad Become One in Christ

It was truly a great joy to be with Brad & Jackie (Houriet) Gillaspie for the celebration of their marriage on June 20. Relatives and friends gathered in a festive mood at the Historic Lehmann Mansion ( in Lake Villa under a tent. Even more special for a wedding of two Christians, like Brad & Jackie, who love the Lord, in which their marriage is a portrait of Christ’s Love for His Church.

This reception had the dance floor packed the entire evening! No matter what I spun from Jackie & Brad’s list or a song I filled in with, the guests were out there dancing the night away be it Current Top 40, Classic Rock, Disco, Funk, Motown, Oldies, Romantic, Big Band or Country – everything worked! Not one song failed. Two big keys; my clients knew their crowd and I played “Sets of Music” to keep the momentum going. Check out “The 4 Keys to Keeping The Dance Floor Packed” (
Jackie & Brad planned with me that the special dances would occur after they had cut their wedding cake to “How Sweet It Is” by James Taylor but before dinner. We personalized the order so that at first Brad would dance with his mom to “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” by Randy Newman, Jackie would then dance with her father to “Just the Way You Look Tonight” by Frank Sinatra after which I would mix directly into “Jump Around” by House of Pain (her dad’s favorite, especially at Green Bay Packer games) which created quite a contrast and thrill with the entire bridal party quickly joining in on the fun which set the tone of excitement for the rest of the night. Check out the video on this one. Once things had calmed down Jackie & Brad soloed together for the 1st time as newly weds to “Never Stop” by Safetysuit.

After dinner it was nonstop fun on the dance floor. Check out all the action photos and videos. It was a pleasure to work with Bauer Catering ( who prepared the delicious meal. The table floral decorations were especially beautifully designed by Petal Peddlers ( Great to see all the Trinity grads in attendance. Thanks for having had me as your MC/DJ on your big day. Jackie & Brad best wishes in your life together in Christ.

8th Grade Graduation Fun

St. Peter’s Luthern Chuch Fellowship Hall in Arlington Heights was the appropriate venue for an Eight Grade Graduation Party for students from St. Peter Luthern School. Adults and kids were in attendance. DJ Brain played the music for dancing, games and activities on June 14. The 8th graders enjoyed making many music requests. A special bonus was having Karaoke where individual students as well groups of students preformed by singing some of their favorite tunes. Special thanks goes out to Missy Morris for hosting the party and inviting us to DJ the event. Best wishes to the Class of 2015.

Cancer Survivor Birthday Theme

It is always so wonderful to be with Kim Jensen and the committee from Northwest Community Hospital for their annual Cancer Survivor Celebration at the Arlington Heights Senior Center. On June 14 I had the privilege to provide the music for this years “Birthday Party” theme. We played the annual fun time favorite activity of name that artist to songs about Birthday, Party or Celebration. Many participated in the best birthday hat contest. I put on the dog songs when the therapy dogs made their annual appearance, the kids just loved the dogs. Raffles, drawings, great prizes and delicious food filled the time and the colorfully decorated room. A fun time for all. Check out the colorful photos. Thanks again for having had me again this year.

Linnea & Jim Celebrate in Indiana

It was truly a great joy to have been with Jim & Linnea (Smith) Baney for their wedding reception in Central Indiana on June 13. Their family and friends celebrated with them in a tent on The Smith Family Farm, owned by Linnea’s parents, just outside of Rochester, Indiana. There were many out of state guests in attendance with many traveling in from The Chicago Area. It is even more special for a wedding of two Christians, like Jim & Linnea, who love the Lord in which their marriage is a wonderful portrait of Christ’s Love for His Church.
The setting provided for a most festive atmosphere. Dave Smith, the father of the Bride, gave a most hospitable opening welcome. It was the first time I experienced a bride & groom being escorted in a tractor for their introduction, in this case with “Beautiful Day” by U2 in the background. They had fun cutting they’re wedding cake to “How Sweet It Is” by James Taylor. After dinner they danced for the first time as newly weds to “Fly Me to the Moon” by Frank Sinatra. Linnea then danced with her father to the sound of “Cinderella” by Steven Curtis Chapman. We opened the dancing with a romantic set which led into “The Twist” and a 50’s Jitterbug set. Guests enjoyed dancing to a variety of genres of tunes from Jim & Linnea’s music list. I loved seeing the young kids dance and have fun as well. Appropriatly played “Back Home Again in Indiana” and “My Kinda of Town”. Jim & Linnea wanted to honor everyone who was married and in doing so honor the sanctity of marriage which is fading away in today’s culture. The Anniversary Dance was that moment where married couples were encouraged to dance in which special honor going out to Linnea’s grandparents who had been married the longest.
Thanks for having had me for your reception and for all the wonderful Indiana Hospitality. The Three plus hour drive was more than worth the experience. Please check out the action photos. Jim & Linnea best wishes in your life together in Christ.

Let’s Personalize your Event not just Customize it

When ordering food/meat at a fine restaurant we tell them what we want and how we want it, whether the meat is to be rare, medium rare, medium, medium well or well done. That is our food is customized to order. What we don’t do is tell them how to cook our food. That is where we trust the restaurant and their cook to prepare the food as we ordered. We trust in their professional service, in their quality expertise and in their outstanding reputation.
Likewise our clients over the years have trusted in our vast experience, wisdom and reputation to deliver the service they expect and deserve on their big event day.
That being said we at Windy City Hitman DJs are so much more than just order takers who just do what you ask and customize your requests, but instead personalize your event by not just working for you but working with you to deliver the best possible experience and result. Listening, understanding and appreciating your desires teamed up with our expertise and service produces the ultimate result: not only satisfied clients but clients who are thrilled and willingly share their joy and smiles with others and referrals.

Katie & Kevin Celebrate at Pazzo’s

I have always had a great time entertaining at Pazzo’s ( in Downtown Chicago, and June 6 for Kevin & Katie (Flaherty) Ward’s Reception was no exception. The sound was solid and clear with our four speaker system setup, designed for crowds over 200. The dance area was packed all night long. Guests loved the variety of sets we planned for the evening. No matter what I put on it was like magic; whether Current Top 40, Motown, Rock, Romantic Ballads, 50’s Jitterbug or a large set of Country Tunes. The Anniversary Dance was wonderful as well as line dances such as the “Electric Slide”, “YMCA” and “The Twist.” The Chicago Blackhawks wee playing that night and Katie & Kevin, being devoted fans, had me play “Chelsea Dagger” (The Blackhawks song) at full volume every time they scored a goal. The Hawks happened to score two goals within a matter of minuets during dinner and on both occasions the guests erupted to the news of a Hawks goal. By the way the intro songs were “Chelsea Dagger” for the bridal party and “Burning Love” by Elvis Presley for Katie & Kevin. Irish and Celtic selection were played for cocktail and dinner. They cut their cake to “Sugar, Sugar”. Every detail was personalizzed to Kevin & Katies wishes. It is a pleasure to again work with Faye and the fantastic staff at Pazzo’s. Best wishes to Kevin & Katie in your life together. Please enjoy the action packed photos & videos.

Sunday Outdoor Wedding Fun at The Grove

It was a joy to be with such a fine Christian couple; Daniel and Jenna (Wright) Trew on their Wedding Day at The Grove – Redfield Estates ( on May 31. We were involved in the ceremony and reception which were both held outdoors. After the Christ centered ceremony and a cocktail period filled with instrumental jazz and love songs everyone moved to the pavilian for dinner and dance. Daniel and Jenna had fun with their wedding cake as evidenced by one of the photos. Their first dance was “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran. Inaddition to their key songs they also submitted a list of many other favorites which received excellent response on the dance floor including Current Top 40, Romantic, Classic Rock, Disco and some 90’s. Line Dances were also a hit including The Chicken Dance as caught on video. The Guys particularly tore up the floor to “Jump On It.” The Generation/anniversary Dance was a big success in honoring married couples on the dance floor with Jenna’s grandparents being recognized as the longest married couple. Ended with “The Time” by The Black Eyed Peas. Good to work again with Refined Dinning ( Thanks again for having us. Best wishes to Daniel and Jenna. Marriage is a wonderful portrait and reminder of Christ’s Love for His Church. Check out the action photos and videos.
