A Evening for Chris & Kristie

Father/Daughter Twist

When 2 wonderful teachers, Chris & Kristie (Holowatyj) Harvalis along with their relatives and close friends celebrated their marriage it was inevitable that it was going to be a whole lot of fun. On June 16th at Chevy Chase (www.chevychasecountryclub.com) in Wheeling the dance floor was continually packed with dancers. I really liked their choice of Oldies for the cocktail hour with many guests bobbing their heads & swaying their hips to the catchy tunes of the late 50’s, 60’s and early 70’s. George Harrison’s “I’ve Got My Mind Set On You” was the introduction song used for both the bridal party and for Chris & Kristie. A special Ukrainian Bread Ceremony was conducted before dinner. The Rat Pack (www.windycityhitman.com/265/rat-pack) was chosen for dinner. The Cake cutting tune; “Give a Little by the Goo Goo Dolls”, their 1st dance; “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” by IZ and Mother/Son dance; “Simple Man” by Lynyard Skynyrd. The highlight of the evening was the Father/Daughter dance where Kristie and her dad danced with great enthusiasm (see photo) to “The Twist”, halfway through the Bridal Party members joined in, with everyone in attendance invited to join in to “Let’s Twist Again” and finishing the opening set to “Twist and Shout.” What a great way to get the party started. Chris & Kristie knew their crowd well and picked the right songs that worked throughout the entire night. How about this Rock Set; “500 Miles” by the Proclaimers, “Life is a Highway” by Tom Cochrane, “Summer of ’69” by Bryan Adams and “You Can Call Me Al” by Paul Simon. Great to again visit with David & Teresa Pollitz (see photo, blue shirt), who’s reception we did on April 24, ’10 & who recommended us to the bride & groom. Best wishes to Chris & Kristie in their life together.
