Cancer Survivors Have Fun

For the 7th consecutive year we have teamed up with the folks at Northwest Community Hospital to celebrate with their cancer survivors at the Arlington Heights Senior Center on June the 24th. A great time for all as always. This years theme was “Hats Off to the Survivors.” In keeping with the theme everyone was encouraged to wear a hat. We had 2 best hat contests; one for the guardian dogs the other for the survivors themselves. Other events (see photos) included; Bubble Gum Blowing Contest, Bozo Buckets and for the 2nd year in a row the Mummy Rap Competition. Our collection of “Summer Theme” songs went over extremely well for name that Artist & Tune. Out of about 30 songs covering all eras, on only 2 songs were they totally stumped. I was especially impressed that they knew that; “A Summer Song” was by Chad & Jeremy, “Beach Baby” by First Class, “In The Summertime” by Mungo Jerry, ‘Sunshine” by Jonathan Edwards, “Enjoy yourself” by Louis Prima, “Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows” by Lesley Gore, “Vacation” by Connie Francis and “59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin’ Groovy) by Harper Bizarre. Plenty of food as always. Special thanks to the committee. Check out all the colorful attached photos. Hope to see you next year.
