Homestretch for Heroes

IMG_0981

When you go to Arlington Race Track (www.arlingtonpark.com) you expect to see horses race on the track, but on August 13 humans ran, those committed to help veterans and their families. Yes, and there’re coming around the home stretch at Arlington Park while listening to “Born to Run” by Bruce Springsteen or “The Horse” by cliff Nobles as they run to the finish line of the Homestretch for Heroes 5K Run. To help create the atmosphere, after opening ceremonies in the parking area, we started the 450 plus runners with the traditional “Call to Post” to give the Arlington Park chill right before the starting gun. Salute Inc.(www.saluteinc.org ) had us set up on a wonderful stage as we played family friendly “Classic Rock,” “Oldies,” “Disco,” “80’s,” “Motown” and “Patriotic Tunes” for the runners and spectators down the Backstretch. Prizes were awarded. Great to again work with the lovely Bonnie Greene from US99. Check out a picture of Gary, in the Ford Mustang pace car, provided by Arlington Ford (www.ahford.com). We purchased our Ford Transit Connect there.
