Intimate Celebration at Downtown Gibsons

Despite the fact that Glenn & Sandra (Holbert) Green’s guest list consisted of a close-nit group of just 30 guests, their reception was one that they will never forget. Downtown Gibson’s (www.gibsonssteakhouse.com/chicago-pages-325.php) on July 28th hosted the reception. For dinner we mixed a combination of a list of their favorites, mainly oldies & romantic ballads, with our collection of “Windy City Hits”, songs about The City of Chicago. As dinner was winding down & even before the 1st dance the dance floor was filled with dancers led by the Green’s grandsons; Robby & Christian. These boys really had a great attitude and knew how to cut up the dance floor. They inspired others to get out on the floor with them. The dancing was constant and fun filled throughout the evening. Great sets included 50’s Jitterbug, Disco, Classic & 80’s Rock, Romantic Tunes, Oldies as well as a number of Current Top 40 hits. Motown was big along with a fantastic Funk set and a wonderful 70’s R&B (www.windycityhitman.com/759/70s-rb) grouping of “Let’s Stay Together” by Al Green, “You’re My First, Last & Everything” by Barry White and “Let’s Get It On” by Marvin Gaye. We ended the night with The Drifter’s “Save The Last Dance For Me.” By the way, & not surprising, the food at Gibson’s was simply fantastic. The bottom line is that the newlyweds were concerned that people would dance at all, check out the 2 attached video testimonials, not only did they dance but danced all night long right up to the very end. Just goes to show that quality is often more important than quantity.
