Salute Memorial Day Run & Walk

For the 9th consecutive year we were privileged to have partnered with Will & Marybeth Biersdorf & the entire Salute organization (www.saluteinc.org) in honoring Illinois’ military heroes from Iraq & Afghanistan and their families. Over the 9 years over 500 Illinois families have benefited with over a million and a half dollars raised. We had 2 complete equipment setups, one at the start, with warmup tunes & microphones for speeches, invocation, national anthem. The other, with rock, sports & patriotic tunes, at the finish. The runners know that they are closing in on the finish line when they first begin to hear the music from a distance and they appreciate hearing a good tune with more intensity as they get closer and closer to the finish line. The Memorial day race started bright & early on May the 27th at Minor School after our traditional opening ceremonies. Our runners completed their journey of 5K or 10K in 90 degree heat at Recreation Park in Arlington Heights under a beautiful, clear & sunny morning sky. Topped off with great food vendors, my personal helpers; Anthony & Joe & Bonnie Greene of US99. A lot of Fun!
